(John) Mamet used to take a LOT of drugs before coming to the island (and subsequently running out); mainly PCP (a hallucinogen) and cocaine. He's heard voices, he's seen things that weren't there, the whole thing. He also shot himself in the head which was where he came to the island from (http://community.livejournal.com/the_blank_slate/1018709.html), so she might recognize him. :)
